Accommodation allowance for your studies

Social accommodation allowance (ALS) is a financial allowance intended to reduce the total rent.

The total allowance is calculated in line with schedules which take account of your family circumstances, means, rent, etc.

In the event of a flat share, the personal means of each tenant are considered.

If you receive accommodation allowance, you will no longer be considered as dependent of your parents for calculation of family allowance.

You can consult services at your Caf (Caisse d'Allocation Familiale) to receive information about ALS calculation methods.

For students on block-release programs, the mobili-jeune allowance is an accommodation allowance which pays a portion of rent. Some conditions must be met for this (Action Logement website, « mobili-jeune » section)

For young workers or those on block-release programs, you can also receive assistance for payment of a security deposit (Loca-pass deposit).
